Wind Turbines at Brighstone/ Shorwell
Protect the beautiful countryside that we ride in
The Planning Application from Cornwall Light and Power and Vestas Blades for three 125 metre (410ft) giant wind turbines above Brighstone and Shorwell on Cheverton/Limerstone Down has been submitted and was validated by the Isle of Wight Council on 6 February 2009. You have just TWO WEEKS to register your objection. Write your PERSONAL letter of objection NOW! Over the page we show you how. You must act now! IW Scurry & Grand National
This year IW Scurry & Creasey Biles & King Grand National will once again be held at West Ashey Farm on Sunday 29 March. There will be refreshments and a licensed bar. Gates will open at 10.30am with the first race at 12pm. Entrance for adults is £4 and children are free.

Bridleways
Sheila Weedall is the County Chair and Access officer for the BHS on the Island. She would like to urge all riders on the Island to contact her in writing if poss about any Bridleway gates that need repairing or replacing, there are funds available!!
Also if you know of any footpaths that could be up graded to Bridleways ie: to join Bridleways together and get more riders off the roads.
Liphook Equine Open Day

Vectis Juniors Qualify for RC National Championships
Two Vectis junior members did extremely well to qualify at the Area 17 Dressage Qualifier at Shillingstone for the Riding Club National Championships to be held at Lincolnshire Showground in September.
Polly Kitcher riding Oliver Twist qualified individually in the Junior Novice Team, riding Novice test 20 and Chloe Quester riding Georgie Girl qualified individually in the Junior Riding Test.
Olympia Trip
The IW mountain & moorland pony society is organising a coach trip to Olympia for the M & M Finals on Monday 22 December. Anyone interested in going should take a look at the IWMMPS website for further details.
West Wight RC - Charity Spider Ride
West Wight RC held their Charity Spider Ride and Jumping Show at Hulverstone. £270 was raised for the Brooke Animal Hospital and Dogs Trust. Sue & Zelma would like to thank everyone who came along and supported the event.

Dressage at Hickstead CDIO 21 to 27 July
If visiting the Royal International/Dressage CDIO it is cheaper to buy tickets direct from Dressage at Hickstead as this also includes a seat on the grandstand at International arena. If purchasing from showjumping on the day it not only costs more per ticket BUT if you want to see the dressage you will have to pay extra £5 for a grandstand seat! RIWAS County Show
County Show organisers are very pleased with the level of entries generally although would like to see more in Ridden Hunters, Riding Club Horse/Pony and M&M classes.
In the circumstances entries will be accepted until say 14th July as there is not a printed programme this year and no need for entry passes etc. Contact Rosemary Edwards 01983 872147 for showing classes and contact Sharon Waghorn 07970 692240 for show jumping classes.
Arena displays will be IW Foxhounds on both days plus a novelty Shetland display on Saturday and scurry on Sunday. The livestock arena on Sunday includes, cattle, sheep and pigs with rare breed prizes and a young handler section.
Bridleways
There is a petition on the No10 web site for the creation of new bridleways, which I think we will all agree are needed with the ever increasing volume of traffic on our roads. Use the following link to sign up. Bridleways.
Transport to BD Events

County Show to be two day horse show with livestock on the Sunday.
The County Show on 19/20 July will not have trade stands or displays but will be a two day horse show with livestock on the Sunday and entrance will be free. Schedule available to print from the Events List.
Four Vectis Equestrian members qualify for RC Dressage to Music Championship.
On an extremely wet May bank holiday eleven Vectis members travelled to Sparsholt College to compete at the Area 17 Dressage to Music Qualifier.
In the Novice Freestyle 0 BD points section, Sally McIntosh riding Fred Bear were second with 71.94% and Marty Davidson riding Geart were third on 70.83% and both qualify for the Championship at Addington in October. In the Elementry Freestyle Carla Maskell riding Be Fine were second with a score of 71% and Kelly Blow riding Mirabella were sixth with a score of 69%, Carla will qualify for the Championship. Polly Kitcher riding Oliver Twist also qualified for the Championship coming joint second in the Junior section.
Juniors make history for Vectis Equestrian Club
History was made when for the first time Juniors represented Vectis Equestrian Club. They travelled to Sparsholt College to compete in the Area 17 RC Dressage to Music Qualifier. Sammi Henton, Polly Kitcher, Chloe Quester and Natasha Coventry did an excellent job with Polly coming second and qualified for the Championship at Addington in the October.
